Scope of the Special Issue in one sentence: This Special Issue aims to highlight the latest advances in photoacoustic and photothermal science presented at the 23rd International Conference on Photoacoustic and Photothermal Phenomena (ICPPP23), held in Bonito, MS, Brazil.
Submission Instructions
The submission website for the ICPPP23 special issue is located at: https://www.editorialmanager.com/pacs/default1.aspx
To ensure that all manuscripts are correctly identified for inclusion into the special issue, it is important that authors select VSI: 23rd ICPPP-2026 The Best Papers on Photoacoustic and Photothermal Phenomena when they reach the “Article Type” step in the submission process.
All submissions deemed suitable to be sent for peer review will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Once your manuscript is accepted, it will go into production and will be simultaneously published in the current regular issue and pulled into the online Special Issue. Articles from this Special Issue will appear in different regular issues of the journal, though they will be clearly marked and branded as Special Issue articles.
Please ensure you read the Guide for Authors before writing your manuscript. The Guide for Authors and link to submit your manuscript is available on the Journal’s homepage at: journals.elsevier.com/photoacoustics

Journal of Applied Physics – Call for Papers
Special Volume: Celebrating 50 Years of Modern Photoacoustics
The Journal of Applied Physics invites submissions for a special volume celebrating the 50th anniversary of a pivotal moment in photoacoustic science: the publication of the landmark 1976 paper by Allan Rosencwaig and Allen Gersho, “Theory of the Photoacoustic Effect with Solids” (J. Appl. Phys. 47, 64–69). https://doi.org/10.1063/1.322296.
Widely regarded as the foundation of modern photoacoustics, this seminal work has profoundly influenced scientific understanding and technological innovation in the field for five decades. This special volume will honor the legacy of Rosencwaig and Gersho’s contribution and highlight the evolution and impact of photoacoustic and optoacoustic research since its publication.
We welcome submissions of review articles, tutorials, and original research papers related to photoacoustics and optoacoustics. Contributions based on presentations from the 23rd International Conference on Photoacoustic and Photothermal Phenomena (ICPPP23) are encouraged.
