Join the Photoacoustic and Photothermal Community!

The fields of photoacoustic and photothermal science unite a vibrant and diverse international community, bringing together experts from laser physics, thermophysics, biophotonics, nanophotonics, materials science, laser medicine, theranostics, analytical and physical chemistry, thermal analysis, non-destructive testing and evaluation, photoacoustic and photothermal microscopy and tomography, and optoacoustics.

In recent years, groundbreaking advances have expanded the frontiers of photoacoustic and photothermal imaging, opening new horizons in tomography and mid-infrared chemical imaging. These cutting-edge technologies are driving innovation in early disease detection, microplastic identification, coating inspection, and many other emerging applications. The field is steadily building diagnostic capabilities that surpass the reach of current technologies.

The ICPPP series has served as the premier global forum for scientists, technologists, and professionals pushing the boundaries of photoacoustic and photothermal research since its inception in 1979. For nearly five decades, ICPPP has fostered scientific exchange, collaboration, and innovation, becoming the most recognized and respected platform in the field.

This 23rd edition will also mark a very special occasion: Celebration of the 50th anniversary of the seminal paper by Allan Rosencwaig and Allen Gersho — “Theory of Photoacoustic Effects with Solids” — a cornerstone that laid the theoretical foundation for much of today’s research.

A Broadened and Enriched Scientific Program

For ICPPP23, the scientific program has been thoughtfully expanded to reflect the increasing interdisciplinarity of the field, new theoretical approaches as well as techniques. In addition to covering all the traditional topics of photoacoustics and photothermics, the conference will feature enhanced sessions in: Materials Science, Biomedical applications, Laser spectroscopy, Theranostics, Environmental monitoring, Industrial applications, Mid-infrared chemical imaging and tomography, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Photothermal Integrated and Hybrid Sensor Systems.

Both fundamental and applied research topics are welcome, providing a platform for discussions that bridge disciplines and inspire new collaborations.

We expect to welcome 250–300 participants from across the globe. Leading experts will share their latest breakthroughs.

In parallel, an industrial exhibition will showcase the latest equipment and technologies, providing unique opportunities for networking between academia and industry.
